QAT Tester - Hybrid - Newcastle - 60K (Contract/Permanent)

Location: Newcastle, Tyne & Wear Country: UK Rate: 60K
 

Salary: £60k (50k basic & 10k bonus)

Job Type: 6-Month Fixed Term Contract (with the likelihood to extend beyond)

Job Location: Newcastle

Workplace Type: Hybrid (3 days in office)

As a Quality Assurance and Testing (QAT) Tester, you will play a crucial role in contributing to and supporting the testing assets of systems. You will work within the overall Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Processes and gain comprehensive business and domain knowledge. This role demands a thorough understanding of both functional and non-functional testing techniques, as well as awareness of available tools for test automation. We expect QAT Testers to possess a keen awareness of test principles, defect management, test data identification, and the ability to build reusable test collateral and execute tests effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to Testing Assets: Collaborate with the testing team to develop and maintain testing assets for systems under development.
  • Follow SDLC Processes: Adhere to the established Software Development Lifecycle Processes to ensure comprehensive testing coverage.
  • Domain Knowledge: Acquire in-depth understanding of the business and domain to effectively contribute to testing efforts.
  • Functional and Non-Functional Testing: Employ both functional and non-functional testing techniques to ensure the quality of software products.
  • Test Automation Tool Awareness: Stay updated on available tools for test automation and utilise them effectively to streamline testing processes.
  • Test Principles: Apply fundamental test principles to guide testing activities and ensure thorough test coverage.
  • Defect Management: Identify and report defects promptly, and work closely with the development team to resolve them efficiently.
  • Test Data Identification: Identify and create necessary test data sets to support testing activities.
  • Build Reusable Test Collateral: Develop reusable test collateral, such as test cases, test scripts, and test scenarios, to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Execute Tests: Conduct thorough testing according to predefined test plans and procedures to validate system functionality and performance.

  • Proven experience in software quality assurance and testing.
  • Familiarity with various testing methodologies and techniques.
  • Proficiency in using test automation tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
